It is our great pleasure to inform you that we have upgraded the Bronchoscope system of the Paediatric Pulmonology Department of the 1st Paediatric Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, thanks to a donation to our Charity by COSMOTE.

The Department treats paediatric patients with complex lung and respiratory conditions, in the “Aghia Sophia” Children’s Hospital, the “P. & A. Kyriakou” Children’s Hospital, and the Children’s Oncology Unit “M. Vardinoyannis-Elpida”.

The Charity “Pediatric Trauma Care” continues its long-standing tradition of supporting the clinical work of the 1st Paediatric Clinic of the University of Athens at the Children’s Hospital “Agia Sofia” with the recent upgrade of the Bronchoscopy equipment.

The Paediatric Pulmonology Department of the 1st Paediatric Clinic of the University of Athens, in collaboration with doctors from other Paediatric and Paediatric Surgical subspecialties as well as the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, provides care each year to a large number of infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents with serious and/or rare respiratory diseases.

A significant role in the management of these diseases is played by the examination of the young patient with a flexible Bronchoscope (Bronchoscopy), which for years has been conducted primarily with equipment donated to the 1st Paediatric Clinic of the University of Athens by the Charity “Pediatric Trauma Care”.

With the new donation from the Charity “Pediatric Trauma Care”, the cold light source system for the available Bronchoscopes was fully upgraded, as well as the digital image processing, allowing for much greater clarity during the examination of the patient’s airways. Additionally, the donation includes a state-of-the-art video bronchoscope, with a small external diameter in order to enhance the image quality during the examination of the bronchial tree of infants and young toddlers.

The historically significant contribution of the Charity “Pediatric Trauma Care” in providing care to the suffering child through repeated donations of medical equipment to the 1st Paediatric Clinic of the University of Athens was recently recognized with an award at a special ceremony during the 56th Annual Therapeutic Meeting held at the Conference Center of the Athens Concert Hall.

Visit to the “Aghia Sophia” Children’s Hospital

On Tuesday December 10th, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) manager of “MEGA”, Mrs Sophia Tsaka and the project manager of the Charity “Pediatric Trauma Care”, Mrs Niki Zolota visited the Paediatric Dermatology Unit of the 1st Paediatric Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in the “Aghia Sophia” Children’s Hospital.

The Paediatric Dermatology Unit was equipped by the Charity “Pediatric Trauma Care” with funding provided by MEGA DISPOSABLES S.A. and the support of PENTE S.A. – Galaxias Supermarkets.
