Seminars"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"font-size:25px\">Paediatric Life Support Seminar (PLS)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Seminar is addressed to specialists and&nbsp;resident doctors, nurses, and health&nbsp;professionals &nbsp;involved in emergency medicine and basic life support for children and infants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Seminar, through interactive teaching techniques, provides theoretical knowledge and practical training in:<br>\u2022 the prevention and treatment of cardiorespiratory obstruction in children and infants,<br>\u2022 the implementation of strategies for the initial treatment of life threatening situations or injuries in children and infants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Seminar includes:<br>\u2022 Teaching and participating in virtual scenarios of clinical cases<br>\u2022 Lectures<br>\u2022 Practical training in skill stations for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Management of the airway<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use of defibrillator<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and foreign body choking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Placement of intraosseous and&nbsp;umbilical&nbsp;vein line<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Tutoring in special issues related to paediatric emergencies<br>\u2022 Education in virtual scenarios of seriously ill children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Apart from enabling doctors to follow these extremely important seminars (<em>see below<\/em>) on child trauma, Pedtrauma has been asked to fund the purchase of equipment (such as infant and baby dolls) for these seminars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>October 2021: equipment for the Educational Center of Emergency Medicine in the University General Hospital \u201cATTIKON\u201d (Sponsors: Anonymous Donor, Hellenic Society for Emergency Medicine, and \u201cFriends of Pediatric Trauma Care\u201d) (cost \u20ac 10.382,64)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>October 2021: equipment for the Educational Center of Emergency Medicine in the University Hospital of Irakleion \u2013 Crete \u201cPAGNI\u201d (Sponsors: Anonymous Donor, Hellenic Society for Emergency Medicine, and \u201cFriends of Pediatric Trauma Care\u201d) (cost \u20ac 10.382,64)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>September 2019: equipment for \u201cAPLS Hellas\u201d seminars (cost \u20ac 3,286.74)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>July 2019: equipment for APLS seminars in Crete (cost \u20ac 3,025.84)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>June 2017: equipment for \u201cAPLS Hellas\u201d seminars (cost \u20ac 553.61)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>May 2014: equipment for \u201cAPLS Hellas\u201d seminars (cost \u20ac 1,550)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>January 2013: equipment for APLS seminars in Crete (cost \u20ac 5,832)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>June 2011: equipment for \u201cAPLS Hellas\u201d seminars (cost \u20ac 4,575).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Pedtrauma has funded the following medical seminars organized by \u201cA.P.L.S. Seminars (Basic Life Support)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>June 12th 2010 a Basic Life Support seminar held at the Children\u2019s Hospital \u201cAghia Sophia\u201d for 24 Nurses, which our Society funded in full.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>From March 2000 to November 2009 Pedtrauma organized 15 Advanced Paediatric Life\u00a0Support (APLS) seminars for doctors and surgeons, and 3 Basic Life Support (BLS) seminars for nurses. These seminars were held in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins University Hospital, Baltimore. The sole purpose of these seminars was to train surgeons, doctors, nurses and Ambulance paramedics on how to help injured children the fastest and best way possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through these seminars 510 Doctors and 90 Nurses were trained by visiting Professors from the Johns Hopkins University Hospital and their Greek counterparts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In early 2010 our Charity decided, due to the deteriorating economic climate, to collaborate with \u201cAPLS Hellas\u201d and instead of organizing seminars ourselves to use our resources to partially fund the doctors\u2019 participation fee and to wholly fund the nurses\u2019 participation fee in these seminars.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Paediatric Life Support Seminar (PLS) The Seminar is addressed to specialists and&nbsp;resident doctors, nurses, and health&nbsp;professionals &nbsp;involved in emergency medicine and basic life support for children and infants.
